Vietnam is composed of three distinct regions, the North, the Central, and the South. We invite you to visit Southern Vietnam with us. This region is blessed with the Mekong River, which provides rich resources to the fishing industry, one of the main ways that Southerners make their living.

Now, we invite you to sit back, relax, and visit a fishing village by the Mekong River… and maybe, catch some fresh fish...

Not only important to Vietnam, the Mekong River is the heart and soul of mainland Southeast Asia and is the 12th longest river in the world. The river originates in China, runs through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, and then enters the Pacific Ocean through nine estuaries. Over 60 million people depend on the Mekong and its tributaries for food, water, transport, and many other aspects of their daily lives.

Besides supporting diverse fisheries, the Mekong River Delta is the largest rice producing area and one of the most densely populated areas of Southern Vietnam. It is considered the rice bowl of Southern Vietnam.

The farmers are blessed with rich soil that produces good crops and therefore, life is easier than in other regions of Vietnam. Southerners are very proud of their rural culture, which shapes the mellow and peaceful characteristics of the people there.

Now, let us take you to the rice fields to share the joy of the harvest season in South Vietnam and maybe… savor some of the scrumptious and unique tropical fruits.

We have shown you a few of the very traditional ways of making a living in South Vietnam. Some techniques of the trades have been passed down from generation to generation.

Alongside the many traditional aspects, southern Vietnam shows another facet in the city life of Saigon. Saigon’s modern and glamorous image has inspired many songs by admiring musicians. And even though the city’s name has been changed for more than thirty years, its glorious memories still remain in the hearts of millions of Vietnamese refugees who left their homeland for freedom.
